Located further inland, Pleasanton is a San Francisco Bay Area suburb that’s just as pleasant as its name implies. This area is family-friendly and home to a high percentage of well-educated residents. It’s no wonder why it’s regularly ranked by Money and USA Today as one of the best places to live in America.

This area was originally part of a settlement called Alisal on the Rancho Santa Rita lands. In 1850, the town of Pleasanton was established. While it was originally home to a sand and gravel plant in the 1930s, the area developed into the thriving suburb it is today.

Due to Pleasanton’s location just outside of Silicon Valley, home prices haven’t skyrocketed in quite the same way. Beautiful, luxurious mansions are available in the low millions, but there are also comfortable and smaller options that won’t break the bank. Ranch-style and split-level homes are common—perfect for raising a family.
